I was singing at a place called "Save the Alcoholic" and later "The Center for Street People," in Chicago's Uptown area, and organizing benefits for them. A couple on the board, Dick and Nan Conser offered me a recording budget for this project. It was a bit of a tense effort, but some of my best songs are on there, and it got me working, at last, in some of the Chicago folk clubs.
