Look Like an Angel

©1973 Andrew Calhoun

I'm so worried about you, you're folding up again
The man is standing with a knife, and you say he is your friend
Well everyone is using you, you'd better watch your mouth
When someone dies, you're the one that cries when the lights are out

In the darkest part of the ocean, there's a spider down below
It's angry, and it's hungry, and it's waiting for you
Well I don't know what is going on, it's happening too fast
You shouldn't play with matches, you shouldn't play with broken glass

The beating of my heart is driving me to a rage
You've blunted all my senses and my hand can't turn the page
You've driven me to the edge and I'm hanging by a string
Look like an angel, look like an angel, before I go insane

Red grief, green grief, reaching the bone
What you gonna do, when the doctor's gone
You wake up in the morning, but somehow it's night again
And you run through halls of ivy screaming, "this is the end"

Somehow, all you stood for has shattered into space
And you pulled apart the curtain, and you stared into your face
Well, we are now approaching, the place where you fell
That spiral patterned staircase that leads you straight to hell
