Another Story

© Andrew Calhoun, March 2005

Beyond your window, time beats like a drum
And here within your heart to kingdom come
With a planet set to race you, and a baby to replace you
In a kinship full of blindness, love and rum

Jesus taught forgiveness, don't you know
Fishing for the souls of those below
Jewish, like my mother, brilliant, like my brother
He is on his way and not your radio

Time will set you free to love again
Although you trip and lose another friend
Compose another story from the sorry and the glory
It's always the beginning of the end

It's always the beginning of the dream
That started with the men behind the scene
With the lotus ever-knowing and the holy women rowing
I know you know exactly what I mean

And I have come to ease your wounded mind
And I have come to freeze your troubles blind
To take you by the hand, just like you had it planned
To leave us where the present is designed

And time will set you free to love again
