Christ Comes Like the Spring Bud

©2011 Andrew Calhoun

Christ comes like the spring bud
Christ comes newborn
One who dies that you may live
And says "Love, wonder, and forgive."

Christ comes like the tiger
With claws as sharp as truth
Stalking through the halls of fame
With bloodlust in his tooth

Christ comes like the dun fawn
Birthing on the flood plain
Leaping through a wall of dust
Carrying the bloodstain

The song is rich, the thing is good
The answer's in the making
Of course we fail the final test
Of course we are mistaken

Christ comes like the spring bud
Christ comes newborn
One who dies that you may live
And says "Love, wonder, and forgive."
