Description

“This collection was conceived and written in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico in November of 2007. It was my first real time in Mexico but for a border crossing to Tijuana a long time ago. There is something in the air down there – a feeling of history, a sense of family, community – the somewhere still beating heart of a people’s revolution. I did not know I would be taken over and this work would be the result.”
“It is in our connection that we fight for freedom and too much of our freedom is taken from us. Everyone in these songs is fighting to be free.” – Peter Gallway

Freedom Is

Zona Romantica
I Don’t Take The Bait
River To The Sea
Nobody Lies
Stealing Life

Beautiful Bride
Last Look

Zona Romantica

My trumpet carries down the beach
It’s jazz no matter the language spoken

I came here when the drinks were cheap
Before the crowds had found this place
Now everything has changed for me
The drink, the music that I play

Zona Romantica, it’s hot as hell six months a year
Zona Romantica how the nights go on
I slick my hair, watch her dress before the mirror
And play like Chet and Miles rolled into one
Zona Romantica

The drink was not the worst of it
Or the hole in my right arm
You think you’re hurting no one
Then you’re carrying a gun

We all need a little help
But some need quite a lot
Some give things less than half a chance
I give it all I’ve got

If big mercy’s what you’re looking for
Then mercy’s what you’ll get
Just don’t count on where or when
Things are not what you expect

I came here when the life was cheap
Police looked the other way
Now everything has changed for me
The life, the music that I play

Zona Romantica, it’s hot as hell six months a year.
Zona Romantica how the nights go on

I slick my hair, watch her dress before the mirror
And play like Chet and Miles rolled into one

Zona Romantica

My trumpet carries down the beach,
It’s jazz no matter the language spoken
